Neville Bonner (1922-1999)
Neville Bonner was the first Aboriginal Australian to become a member of the Australian Parliament. Born in Ukerebagh Island Reserve near Uralla, Bonner served as a Senator for Queensland from 1971 to 1983.
Fred Ward (1832-1890)
Fred Ward, also known as Thunderbolt, was a notorious bushranger in the 19th century. Although he was not born in Uralla, he became widely associated with the area through his numerous robberies and exploits in the surrounding districts.
